THE EAST MOUNTAIN ARTISTS SERIES welcomes you to its 2007--2008 season of classical music and invites you to delight in the artistry of familiar favorites as well as fresh faces. With the opening concert in September, EMAS embarks on its 12th year of presenting diverse music concerts for the enjoyment of the community, and continues to fulfill the vision of its founder, pianist and educator Monique Le Duc. Ms. Le Duc serves as program director for Series and performs with the trio. Joining her with The Sierra Trio are violinist Margaret Hawn, performer and string teacher, and cellist Kristin Hawn. Kristin graduated from Butler University (cello performance) in 2006. Currently she studies with renowned cellist and pedagogue Andres Diaz at SMU Dallas, where she is working towards an Artist Certificate in cello. She has been very active in performing with a number of solo recitals, chamber music concerts, and solo performances with orchestras. Kristin is also an accomplished pianist.
THE EAST MOUNTAIN ARTISTS SERIES was founded with the mission of bringing outstanding classical music to the East Mountain community, and we rely on your financial support to maintain this tradition of quality. Please consider a season subscription or a contribution to help us continue attracting talented performers to our stage. EMAS is a not-for- profit organization, so your contributions are tax-deductible.

The East Mountain Artists Series presents The Sierra Trio in a Mother’s Day Concert on Sunday, May 11, at 3:00 pm, performing an all-Beethoven program. This will be a “farewell” concert for EMAS, concluding our 12th and final season and bringing to a close our tradition of classical music in the East Mountains.
Sierra Trio pianist Monique Le Duc founded EMAS in 1997 and has lived in the East Mountains since 1989. Ms. Le Duc served as Program Director for the Series. Violinist and string teacher Margaret Hawn appeared frequently as a solo and ensemble performer on the EMAS stage, and concludes her fourth season with the Sierra Trio. Cellist Kristin Hawn made her debut as part of the Sierra Trio in EMAS’ Mother’s Day concert in May 2007.
Pianist Monique Le Duc, violinist Margaret Hawn, and Kristin Hawn on cello offer us a beautiful start to our new season. On the program are Camille Saint-Saens’ trio in F major and Rachmaninoff’s trio in G minor. Our newest member, Kristin Hawn, will delight us as she plays the Kodaly Sonata Op. 8 for unaccompanied cello.
The New Mexico Symphony Brass Quintet plays with finesse, virtuosity and soul. They have delighted audiences across New Mexico. This will be the fourth time they have performed for us in the East Mountains. The present Brass Quintet members are John Marchiando and Mark Hyams on trumpets, Peter Ulffers on French horn, Debra Taylor on trombone, and Richard White, principal tubist.
Start the New Year right with another great performance by our Sierra Trio: Monique Le Duc on piano, Margaret Hawn on violin, and Kristin Hawn on cello. We will have a real treat as the Sierra Trio play old favorites from Beethoven!
This will be the 12th Annual Youth Concert
sponsored by EMAS. Take pleasure in the
impressive musical talents of students ranging
from elementary school age through high
school. Musicians interested in participating
should contact Margaret Hawn for
applications. Deadline for submitting
applications is February 1, 2008. Auditions
will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2008.
